Whoa, Karrine

I’ve said that I would not write about Karrine on my blog because, outwardly, I do not support her. Inside, I feel that everyone has the ability to change and that folks’ past shouldn’t define their futures. However, I am left a little miffed by the way she was treated during this interview. No matter what I (or anyone else) may feel about some of her current ways (because trust, not a lot has changed), I still feel that she should’ve received a bit more respect during this interview than what she was given. Both of the interviewers attempted to take it there after coming into it all having only known bits and pieces of her past and “flipping through” the book. Where they do that at? You don’t see Barbara Walters or Diane Sawyer going into interviews blindly, now do you? I feel that she was judged from the jump for her past and THAT is not fair. Post your thoughts on the interview (that was cut short) after you’ve watched it.

damn! wtf they do that for? bitches!

  2. The Ebbykins Says:

Well they say you have to roll with the punches but dang she got knocked the fugg out…this is a pretty bad interview, i would of not even went through it….

  3. CoopISeeYou Says:

Yes, on the journalistic side of things, I do believe that the TV newscasters should not have jumped on her in that way. It was shoddy, mishandled, and very catty and rude on their part. On the other hand, I tend not to feel bad for Karrine because of her past and her constant bragging of doing some really nasty shit. She herself is passing off advice as if being a side-piece and using men is some sort of intelligence marker.

    P.S. I love the site!

  4. The Phresh Prince. Says:

She made me lay down my burdens and get right with God when she said “My 20s were pretty normal”… I can’t. Not this afternoon.

But that was completely unprofessional and out of line. They were attacking her from jump. And I’m sure they received no sort of reprimand for their behavior. Not to pull the race card, but had Tyrone and Tamika swooped down on a Lindsay Lohan book like that, they’d be standing in the unemployment line behind Cheri Dennis right now.

  5. Jazmine Says:

U know what? I laughed. The more I look at this, the more it looks totally contrived, like they set it up to go down exactly the way it did.

No such thing as bad publicity, folks. Her ‘disappointment’ came across as very FAKE to me (after ‘learning’ that they didn’t read the book.) She’s not good at acting. JMO.

  6. Miss Jia Says:

@DaPhresh…uh I thought the same thing. “Your 20s were NORMAL?” Chile bye…lmao

  7. nsm2545 Says:

Ya know what? They were pretty rude, unprofessional and uninformed. Shoddy journalism AT BEST! Why invite her on the show to insult her?!?

It was a trap…all they wanted to do was dig in to her past for ratings.

  8. Bougiebee Says:

that was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful…regardless of what her other books were about there is no way they should have attacked her like that. For him to say she is just a “rumpshaker?” He probably practiced saying that all night. And that prude ass lady making faces at the “explicit pics” Im sure her husband would love to take a gander at those if she even has one. One must always be able to seperate personal opinion & feelings from professionalism. That was quite tasteless and she shouldnt have been treated that way. And no i’m not a superhead fan…

  9. Autumn Says:

totally unprofessional, ignorant, & unkind! the interview was about the book, not her, RIGHT!!!??? they attacked her in a “HOW DARE YOU, YOU BLACK HOER BYTCH!!!??” kinda way. i, personally, feel apologies are in order. Karinne handled herself very well, as i imagine she has thick skin. i respect her gangster! :)

  10. sunshyne84 Says:

I was ready to be on their side cuz I don’t particular care for this ho, but that really was unprofessional. She didn’t say it was for kids, she just said she missed out on advice from a young age into her adulthood, the book is clearly for women. Although I won’t be reading it……but they just weren’t interested in interviewing her based on their own personal judgments. When you work in news you are supposed to be neutral no matter what your personal opinion is.

  11. ladywonder Says:

that was very harsh. even for karrine. they were completely unprofessional for a news station, trying to turn it into a comedy show.

  12. Ashton Says:

    dey sum assholez

  13. SuiteT415 Says:

Wowww I am a bit embarrassed by this interview…pure mockery and immaturity by grown ass “professional” adults….and adults that are being watched by millions of viewers…they should really be ashamed of themselves on how that interview was conducted. Yes she does have a bad rep and all but I’m sure they knew this prior to the interview…why do it??

On a lighter note…I am really happy that she continued to conduct herself in a proffessional manner regardless of being belittled…I may jus go out and buy the book…the 1st one was pretty interesting.

  14. Sirius Swagg Says:

Karrine is judged all the time by her past and what person isn’t and I do agree that it’s unfair to be labeled before people get to know you. But why did you decide to throw her under the bus in the first place Jia… Karrine fulfilled a career that she knew people would respond to negatively and relatibily she did what she had to do to support her family and what don’t you agree with…I’m not attacking because I love your YouTube channel…but what don’t you approve of that Karrine has done…

  15. Robyn Says:

It doesnt matter WHAT she’s done in her past, they were rude! I can get quite…………’prejudice’ so imma just leave it at that. I’m not surprised that they’d do this to her though.

  16. Mr King Says:

WOW! I’m gonna keep my mouth SHUT on this one!

  17. Shelia Says:

I feel she got what she deserved. She has stated that she doesnt do “black media” so she goes “there” to promote her book. When is she going to realize that “white media” doesnt give a flip about her? And on top of that, she calls herself a writer?! Chile, go sit down.

  18. Joja86 aka Juana4ev Says:

Wow that guy was really a jackass. Cuts off the interview but then continues to shit on her. “Just another rumpshakes in the video?” And that lady knew she was wrong from the jump when she started laughing before she answered the 1st question. They definitely planned to trash her. Now of this was Paris Hilton, Kim K,etc getting fame off of getting liad..would be a whole different story

  19. Diva Says:

I bet you when Kim Kardashian comes out with workout dvd’s, books, a shoe website, & other bullshit, nobody talks about her & ray-j having a sex tape! Nobody talks about how Kim Kardashian’s past, so why should they talk about karrine’s past?

I believe no one should be judge on their past especially in the industry & especially if you are changing your life around. They were rude, unprofessional, & I would have went off on them.

  20. Miss Jia Says:

@Sirius Swag: I’m not sure why you directed that WHOLE comment at me as though I am the one that conducted the interview. I’ll keep my thoughts on her very brief b/c I feel that her actions on both her Twitter page, through communication with other bloggers, etc., paints a picture of a woman who has only changed SOMEWHAT, not completely. You don’t write a ‘cautionary tale’ claiming to have made all these vast changes but then have someone log onto your Twitter page or video blog and see that you’re up to the same ole dirty tricks you were up to before your alleged change.

If you feel that’s throwing her under the bus so be it. Everyone with a past (myself included) plays a part in their accidental bus roll over. But the winner, IMO, is the one that resurfaces from the rollover a 100% new person. Not PERFECT…but a reflection of REAL attempts at change.

  21. Robyn Says:

    *snaps*

  22. Diva Says:

    Jia,

I agree with you Jia, I really do. But sometimes what people do on social networking sites is just a facade. It’s not really them. You can never truly know about someone just because of what they do online. You can never know someone by what they twit, blog, make a video out of, nada. Maybe TO YOU she hasn’t changed. But to Karrine, she feels she’s turned her life around.

Like you said we all have a past, but it is really our own perception of ourselves that is the test to let us know if we changed. Other people may not see, but to the person who is doing the changing, that’s all THEY see.

P.S. Still love your websites, still love your youtube videos, but I just wanted to put in my two cents lol

  23. biggrev Says:

I feel if the people stop glamorizing her past she will have the boldness and courage to let it go. Its almost like her fans want her to be a vixen for her whole life.

  24. hisprosody Says:

I think I’m gonna pack me up a space ship for a one way trip to Mars cuz dealing with the human ignant ass sons a bishes is blood curdling.

I agree with Jia. Those anchors were HIGHLY rude & unprofessional.

Journalists have a non-biased creed they’re supposed to uphold and far too often these days does bias enter the realm. I think she was right to upset. Regardless of her past, those anchors made up in their mind’s before the interview even started to be rude & get their shits & giggles and that’s what they did. Ignant sons a bishses.

  25. msjnicole Says:

i dnt think they spoke out of term with her or judged her by her past… her previous two books were mostly about who she slept with with the industry so why wuldnt they think this book is the same… also she said the book was for single women n then changed her answer and said its for married couples… so the questions still remains who is this book for… is this a manual for a single woman on how to “find seduce and keep a man” or for a married woman trying to keep her man…. also most interviewers who are interviewing an author never read the entire book.. .they mostly get the book the day before, scheme it and do the interview…. so does that mean by jus scheming her book they got the same feel az the other two thats why they asked those questions

  26. msjnicole Says:

@biggrev, i disagree.. she is glamorizing her past and making it public….. therefore she is not lettin her past go… she is making money off of it

  27. Kim Says:

Wow. These people are such assholes! For one they don’t even know Karrine at all to make presumptions of what she did or didn’t do in her past. Secondly they didn’t read the book so they came into the discussion dumb as fuck & Third, after the man offended her he didn’t even bother to apologize, like what he said was okay.

See, it’s motherfuckers like these that make it difficult for success black people to rise. Always got negative shit to say no matter what positive thing a person is trying to bring forward.

Damn crackers. (im not racist) =D

  28. ladiinikki Says:

Well, that interview went left from the get-go. And like most of you, I think that it was a setup. I don’t really like Karrine too much, but what they did to her was plain old wrong. Their interest was not in the book (they said that they didn’t read it in the first place); their interest was in making her look like a fool to get a rise out of her & their ratings.

And why would they have her on a morning show on network television discussing a book that I’m assuming is on the X-rated level?

  29. Ashley Nicole Says:

They were ass holes to the 5th power!

  30. KeriBear Says:

The people on this video were highly unprofessional with the way they came at her. I give Karrine credit for keeping her composure but at the same time because I can’t defend her she’s still doing a majority of the nonsense she did prior to the first book.

As for the book itself, The Vixen Manual: How to Find, Seduce, and Keep the Man You Want By Karrine Steffans….that’s like me buying a self help book by Oprah telling me how to look good without makeup…I’m not hating I just think that’s a topic better written by some one who knows what the hell their talking about

  31. Miss Jia Says:

    Yall are hilarious!

@Diva thanks for the love ma! Yall continue sharing your opinions. Don’t mind me :)

  32. Certified Cutie Says:

    Fuckin’ Assholes… -_-

  33. Virgo80sBaby Says:

That was real fucked up and COMPLETELY outta line and disrespectful and then for him to end talm bout she just shaked her romp in a bunch of videos was completely unprofressional! I don’t even like that chick like that but fuck both of them news anchors lives!!! That shit made me mad!

  34. Silver Seductress Says:

LOL @ a “Rump Shaker in a lot of videos”
    WOW!!!!!
I feel as if they were interviewing her they should have @ least read the book.
They were right for bringing up the past but they should have read the book….lol
I read Diary of a Video Vixxen and it was horrible to say the least. I can’t imagine her other books being any better. I mean seriously who would take advice about marriage from her??? Not me….How to suck a d**k maybe, but not marriage advice…..Because a man is going to be a man regardless of what you can and can not do for and with him.

  35. visewesi Says:

I do not care about Karrine past. She did adult things with other consenting adults. Her main fault in all of this is being a woman who dared to give men a dose of their won medicine. Karrine did this Karrine did that, what about the dudes and women who did it with her. Only thing I do not like that it “appears” she might have f’d over some really good friends for personal gain. What I gathered from her biography Madonna and other celebrity women are guilty of doing the same. Ya’ll put some of these dudes on blast and lets talk about what man whores they are. Women we have all the power. Why do we continue to give it away by particpating in crap like this. Don’t believe how much power we got. Stop dancing in their videos, cheering at their sport events, dancing in the clubs and see what happens? Exactly…

  36. Lori Says:

I’m in total agreement with you Miss Jia. You could tell that she was prejudged way before she came on the interview. I also feel she stayed professional throughout the interview and they weren’t. So kudos to Karrine for trying to embrace “CHANGE”, despite all of the negitivity.

  37. Megan Says:

I watched it twice and tried not to read the comments so I would be less biased and I have to say that I see where you are comming from but I don’t they were wrong at the way they came at her.

I mean honestly, Karrine giving out dating advice? I’ll pass and I think that the hosts were amused by this too. But in her defense the hosts were ignorant and should have done more than skim through her book if they are going to co-sign promoting it.

She should know better than to be mad when this self-helpish book garners a few nudges was and chuckles though. I thought it was bold of her to proclaim she was offended when he asked an obviously ignorant question. What did she expect?

  38. guesshoo Says:

Unprofessional, point blank. And they knew it too, thats why they kept chuckling and acting as if they did nothing wrong.

Then in the end he sits on the book as if to make a statement of some sort, terrible. Now I know not support them or their station and will ensure to advise others of doing the same.

  39. R0CKSTARK0TiC Says:

see this some bullshit people think because of someones past they cant treat them any old kinda way no ma’am i woulda called off air to them and told them how i really felt, and they were asking uneducated questions in the sense they weren’t educated on what the book was about thats like me interviewing maya angelou and not reading a nair one of her poems, smh

  40. Random Lurker Says:

I agree with you Jia. This was out of line. This is why I love this blog.

Jia, you said you were going to do a video about McNair. But I guess that’s old news, plus everyone already said what they were thinking.

  41. LadyS Says:

They were so wrong for that. Fuck those lame idiots. They did not even bother to read the book.

  42. Say it Aint so Joe Says:

Sorry, I can’t agree with you on this Miss Jia. The reason why she’s an author is because she wrote a book about her sexual prowess/life. I think it’s a bit unfair to then get mad at someone for asking for it. She can’t have it both ways.

  43. Say it Aint so Joe Says:

Oh yeah and there’s a big diffrence between making a sex tape with your boyfriend and writing a book about sleeping with a bunch of men.

  44. B. Suga Says:

I think Superhead got what she deserves. She is full of it. I don’t believe anything about her being changed. Her books are just a sensationalized tale of her life. She turned her back on “black” media as if white media gives a damn about her. Those newscasters treated her the way most would. I have no respect for her & wish she would go away. Seriously!!

  45. Jizzil Says:

I think that this interview was completly offensive. No matter what she did in her life they used that against her like it defined her. I mean people grow she is trying to better herself and she may not be the most credible person to give love adive but they treated her like she is a common whore on national tv as if she hasnt grown from that aspect of her life. I think she handled the situation very professional as well.

  46. Bridget Says:

The hosts reminded me of the hosts they mock on Saturday Night Live, white-washed and no nothing. Even though I do think Karrine is out there, way out there and has really learned nothing or changed, I believe she handled herself well during the “interview.” Honestly I would have expected her to go off. I believe that if someone that saw this knew nothing about her, they would think the hosts were ignorant and rude!

  47. Rick Says:

I know I’m late on this one but they were all prepared to have this trashy “let’s hear from the video hoe” talk but when she averted the gutter conversation they got high and mighty as if they didn’t want to talk about backroom bj’s and “rump shakin’.” I can’t believe I’m defending her but she didn’t deserve that!

  48. OojayjayoO Says:

They was rude as hell. Yes she might have played in her fair share of nut pools (lmao) but she deserves more respect than that. She TRYIN to do betta so i give her props for that and they are supposed to be PROFESSIONALS and thats not how professionals conduct themselves.

  49. FeelnMiiSelf Says:

Sorry about the lateness…busy day yesterday, but I’m here Lawd!! I have much to say…

It just AMAZES me to no-end that people have the audacity to sit here and judge this women (or ANYONE else for that matter) as if their blood is as pure as the Holy One…Really?! Last time I checked, I only worshiped one God and my Bible read that all have sinned…along with instruction that God is the only judge. WOW! You people must really be sittin’ up on that high horse that God Himself personally provided for you.

I do not necessarily…hmmm…what’s the word…CARE about Karrine’s past endevours, nor am I a fan. I can’t say I don’t agree with what she does or has done, because it isn’t my life to agree or disagree with; doesn’t affect me. However, it is not fair for anyone to be treated the way that she was treated during this interview. What does affect me, however, is the co-signment that ignorant people participate in just to bring someone down and the way she was treated. Calling the situation what it is; if she were a white women with the same past, she would not have been treated the same. Was Marilyn Monroe not a glorified whore? Check ya history…she was. But never was she treated this badly. While Karrine did put all her business out for the world to read, she doesn’t deserve this type of unprofessionalism. I’m sure her agenda on the show that day was to promote her book, which she views as positive. If they weren’t going to do the same, they shouldn’t have invited her. But like someone else said, they prob brought her on the show to dig into her past and get ratings and a couple of laughs, perhaps. One day, I hope that people will stop all this ignorant bull-sh*t and just worry about themselves. I can’t comment much more on the behavior of the interviewers, just because I have a hard enough time stomaching the interview itself. They don’t deserve my time.

    Thanks Jia!

  50. mrsprettyncurvy Says:

I don’t know much about Super Head, other than the obvious! Smirk. Anyways, I think they were out of line, and just being jerks…Paris Hilton is no saint, but I bet they would have NEVER treated her that way.

  51. Sirius Swagg Says:

@Jia, I understand you using the word “paints” the picture, but you know how some of media can draw images that depicts a negativity and you know that…but I do enjoy you’re blogs I just didn’t understand why you said that you didn’t support her.

  52. BabygirlPebbles Says:

In no way, shape, or form this was correct. All of us have something in our past people can judge. I think she came a long way and is doing something good with her life. Stop judging and read the DAMN book you may learn something. Karrine is the perfect person to give advice on sex, who else than a person who had lot of it and with many. Now stop it, we all know the interviewers was completely out of order. No one should be treated like that. If you ALL think you can’t learn something for her, then something is wrong with you. We learn from ALL everyday. Good or Bad, it’s a life lesson learn. Thanks for listening.

P.s. Miss Jia…the picture from twitter with the mouth; again, is that Bobby Brown?

Also I love you on twitter, Miss Jia.com, etc., keep the stories coming.

  53. GL0 Says:

Whether you like or support a person or not, the fact that they are cooperating to come on a show with you (and increase your ratings) should be reason enough to show them proper & cordial respect. This was terrible. I agree they asked ignorant questions and gave little to no room for her to really show for anything. Smh

i’m sure i’m reiterating some of what has already been said, but no offense, i really didn’t wanna read evryone’s comments, but i digress.

this interview was disgraceful. i agree that the ppl conducting the interview had negatively skewed view on her based on what they may have heard. but if you are professionally interviewing someone, then you should know more than rumors and such about that person, and give them the respect that anyone deserves [no matter what their past looks like].

if this is the new precedent for interviews, then they need to have all of the adulterous members of the U.S. government face the same kind of thing.

    just sayn….

  56. TheBareMe Says:

I happen to agree completely with “msjnicole.” She has made money, publicizing her past (mainly about being a video hoe and about who she’s slept with), quite frankly that’s EXACTLY what she’s famous for! So what is so wrong with assuming that’s what this latest book was about? Especially after looking at the packaging.

Most tv newscasters (NOT Barbra Walters or Oprah types) only get books of people they’ll be interviewing a day or two before (sometimes only a few hours before), so it’s not “unprofessional” of them at all.

Karrine first said the book was to help and teach *young ladies* with the lessons she never learned as a child. Then when she got called out for having inappropriate content for that demographic she changed her answer to say that it was a “progressive” for single, dating and married women. Lol, face it, she got caught and called out, and she couldn’t cover her ass! Lol.

It had nothing to do with race, in my opinion either. So I won’t even touch on that.

  57. Karrine Gets ‘Viewed Again | Miss Jia: She ain’t for everybody… Says:

[...] it back to the present. But do you think that Karrine should’ve gotten mad about it? In the previous post that I did that included an interview, I can say that they were downright wrong. However, I can’t say [...]

  58. WellDamn24 Says:

I don’t think that KS would have been snippy if the book was about her past. She has very rarely avoided discussing her past, within context. For example, when she was pimping her first two books, she spoke about them. She’s pimping a new libro and thus she wanted to stay on topic. She wasn’t on their show for fun. It was all about getting more readers (and paper).

On a side note, like she’s a hoe, I think entertainers/athletes are hoes too. They always wanna talk about pimp this, and trap that, but they are the main ones getting their @sses busted out, one way or another. Instead of being mad at chick for getting paid by any means necessary (which I don’t agree with BTW), they need to let game recognize game.

Many rappers sell out their culture, their hoods, and sell their souls to get paid, and so did she. You get Rapper A who was conscious in the 1990s, but now he talks like he’s been trapping since birth. You get Rapper B who is slappin’ chicks’ @sses in the videoes, then wanna thank God and his momma when he wins an award. You got Athlete C who is married with kids, but he wants to get mad when caught cheating with Superhead (Shaq anyone?).

And you got the stanky mofos who KNOW she’s Superhead and want to taste some anyway. They can’t get mad when she puts their business all in the streets. Who did they think they were dealing with, a saint?

Please. Build a bridge and get over it!

I think that the interviewers were wrong. But I also have to say you reap what you sew. You can’t do anything you want and are surprised by the consquences. I’m not saying that she should be punished or anything but she is avoiding the “black media” well then what does she have to sy now. They think you are a hoe just like the “black media” does. In my opinion she put herself on blast. She made herself out to be a hoe and that is what she is famous for.Its not that she is an excellent writer. She slept with any man that she thought could help her and she kept a list. Fine. She is grown she can do what she wants but she can’t really be surprised that people will always associate her with that. Right now she is the world’s most famous jumpoff.

  61. EPNIKKI85 Says:

After looking at the video I was getting upset with the news cast. In my opinion why bring a person on the show without having knowledge on what the book is all about and what the celebrity is all about. Basically they just wanted her on their show to bring in ratings because they know that people will be watching.

And for the record I do not know why they was acting as if the explicit pictures in the book were disgusting. Everybody know that they F*CK and as for the guy he probably got a stash of Playboy magazines hidden in his house somewhere.

  62. Mello Says:

I really don’t feel sorry for Karrine. She had an opportunity to discuss her book and she blew it. Her first 2 books were about sex & so is the 3rd. So how are the journalist out of line for saying that the new book is about sex as well?? Like the journalist stated…there’s things in that book that’s not for a young girl. Graphic sexual positions, but it’s not a book about sex?? Yea, ok Super. Karrine needs to get off her high horse. Don’t act all high and mighty when you’re not living your life as such.

  63. rondine Says:

someone people have not reach adult stage especial those interviews they need to be fired. they r teaching other people especial young teen to judge someone before they even take the time out to know and understand them n that’s disgusting
