Vanessa Simmons Has Good Hair Too
Vanessa Simmons joined the ranks of “predecessors” Oprah & Tyra Banks to show that she, too, can rock her real hair. On the one hand, I’m happy that more women are willing to let go of the horse hair and rock their own sh*t but on the other hand, what about the women who have been rocking their real, natural hair for years with NO media attention? I remember getting into a long back and forth discussion with someone on a message board who said that it’s “highly inappropriate” for women of color to rock their natural hair, as there is no way that it could look “neat and kept up.” Sad that those kind of thoughts are the heads of MANY women who think they’re unattractive without someone else’s scalp on theirs.
And I hate to sound typical here because I am well aware of there being a possibility for a Black woman to have LONG hair that belongs to them but considering that Vanessa was JUST rockin’ a bob a few months ago, I’ma need SOMEBODY to do a quick ‘run through’ on her head before I give hi-fives, just to make sure.

I dont see the point of her broadcasting anything…doubt anyone cared. I mean tyra,etc rocked lacefronts all the time so people were skeptical. We know they added tracks here & there

I highly doubt this is all her. She was indeed rocking a bob, not to mention how full her hair is here.

Of course people who have hair flowing down their backs are proud to rock their natural hair. What about the celebs who have short hair? I would like to see them come out of the weave.

I totally agree with you Jia, of course it's possible for black woman to have "long" hair, but I am not convinced that it's all hers. If it is, cool. If not, stop frontin' V.

The fact that she had a bob last week does not mean that this pic is not her natural hair. I have rocked short hair cuts that are shorter than my natural hair because that was the look I was going for. However, the jury is still out if that is all her or not. I would hate to think that she's lying about something so sill though. Idk.

It’d be pretty foolish of her to broadcast this as her own hair, if it wasn’t. But it could very well be. The bob could’ve been a full head weave, with her own cornrowed underneath. My friend is rocking a long full head weave at the moment, and her own hair underneath hasn’t a lick of relaxer in it.
