Tyler Perry MENstruates, Boondocks Episode Pulled

About two weeks ago, a new episode of the hit cartoon series, Boondocks, aired and had a lot of people rolling! The episode was entitled Pause and it basically implied that called Tyler Perry gay, saying that he uses the mask of his main character, Madea, to sort of cover up on his own tendencies. Well, it looks like we won’t be seeing the episode again unless you’re perusing the ‘net because word is, Tyler had the episode banned. Check out more details + the full cartoon after the break!

Turner Broadcasting is trying to avoid a house of pain with producer Tyler Perry.

Perry, who has two shows on Turner’s TBS cable channel (“House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns”) was furious about a recent episode of the animated series “The Boondocks” that ran on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block. Cartoon Network also is owned by Turner Broadcasting.

The episode in question — “Pause” — which first ran June 20, lampooned Perry, the creator of several hit movies, some of whom star him as Madea, an eccentric grandmother whose antics often land her in hot water. The show, which is executive produced by Aaron McGruder, who also created the now-defunct comic strip of the same name, featured a thinly veiled version of Perry named Winston Jerome. In the episode, Jerome is shown to be a closeted cross-dresser who uses religion to hide his lifestyle.

Soon after the episode aired, Perry got in touch with executives at Turner including entertainment chief Steve Koonin and Phil Kent, the chief executive of Turner Broadcasting. Perry complained loudly about the episode and even threatened to rethink his relationship with the company, people familiar with the situation said. A spokesman for Perry declined to comment.

Kent, who is a low-key executive but also a former talent agent, put his skills to work and acknowledged to Perry that the actor-producer should have been given a warning about the episode. The show, which has aired twice, is not scheduled to air again on Cartoon Network, although the company would not say if it has been banned from the channel.

Aint this some shit, he need to take a chill pill. It was just a parody, but if those rumors of him firing his staff is true because of it, well he just told on himself anyway. You don't see latarian Milton or any other people sueing about the parodies. Now I do understand he is a business man and his image might be at stake. But it still dont matter, we all been had suspicions about him anyway. So he need not stop tripping, NO SHADE.

    HEY MISS JIA

  2. Mimilovee Says:

People get made fun of on that show all the time. Tyler making all this fuss about it just confirms what i already thought in my head….

  3. @litebrite09 Says:

He definitely needs to get his panties out his ass…pause… lol But seriously, it was just a joke. People are so uptight when they're disrespected, but continue to do the same nigga shit all day everyday! With that said, although he's mad, he's still gonna dress up as Madea and make plays that turn into movies, and movies that turn into sit-coms, so just get over it…He can ban the episode, but I DVR'd that shit, I get to watch it anytime I want!! lol

  4. sickwitit Says:

    tyla dont play!

  5. Mela3 Says:

They can ban the episode from airing if they want but its just going to make more people interested in the episode and it parallels to real life. This is exactly why this is the last season of the show, Cartoon Network/Turner Broadcasting refuses to back the show up. If you decide to air a show that intends to mock real life, have the balls to stand by them when people get upset or act all sensitive.

  6. MY22CENT Says:

tyler is mad wit aaron and the insider just maybe REGINA KING… SHE STARRED IN A TYLER FLICK AND IS THE VOICE OF RILEY AND HUEY! UMMMM I THINK I GOT IT!

  7. Talibah Says:

Now this is a true example of BLACK on BLACK crime!

Shame on you Tyler Perry. The truth hurts huh?

  8. Danj! Says:

^^^exaaaactly… he doesn't even realize he's bringin' even more attention to it by doin' this. Now, people who didn't see it are gonna be all online watchin' it.

Do you denounce Ice Cube and all his works?!!!!

    -D!

  9. bknyc Says:

Yeah thats called the Streisand effect. Its a google worthy term but you guys basically defined it.

  10. Samyzee Says:

I have a problem with this entire situation for several reasons.

First off, I've never really been a fan of the Boondocks. I had to grow to TOLERATE it overtime (and in some weird way I even appreciated his work), and even as I began to take it for what it was and semi-enjoy it, I still thought it was a bit over the top and crass at times.

I saw this particular episode the night it aired and it was difficult for me to watch. I say that because I've noticed that people constantly attack Tyler Perry for his work because they feel it isn't an accurate depiction of black people. But what is? Black folks aren't a monolithic people. Tyler Perry's work isn't for everyone just like McGruder's work isn't for everyone. They both have a certain target audience and they both have done exceptionally well in their lanes.

The problem is, there just aren't enough representations of us in the media and I think that is where a lot of the backlash comes from from. It's just sad that in an industry where there are very few us, we have to resort to this type of foolishness. And I guess I'm a bit partial to Tyler because I'm aware of the fact that his staff consist of mostly (Or USED to… LMAO) black people. Tyler owns his own and he has given a lot of black actors and actresses jobs in an industry where jobs for us are scarce.

Oh, and I don't give two fucks whether or not Tyler Perry is gay. He can disclose that information when he's good and ready, if ever.

It's unfortunate though that the episode was pulled. I get that Tyler's feelings were hurt, but I'm sure it pains McGruder every time they try censoring his work or yanking it off the air completely.

    …Life goes on.

  11. Allergic 2 B.S. Says:

All I wanna know is, who da hell seen the prison episode? It came on the same night as
the E.B.T Awards. Matter fact, it came on after the awards. Anyway, PLEASE tell me I'm
not the only 1 on this post who seen it? It was TOO funny! It had me in rolling & in tears!
Tom is off the chain….He may corny, but he is SO funny at it LOL!

"You can't have my booty" LOL!!!!!!!

  12. REVEMUPMAN Says:

WOW, even kanye blew off the gay fish episode of south park. Tyler perry must be a queen for this one.

  13. Arrielle Brown Says:

no…. Regina hasnt been in any of Tyler's movies.

  14. No Homo! (LOL) Says:

Like a couple of other people have said on this blog, The Boondocks have been makin fun of people since it was a comic strip. Its a shame how some people let it go on until they're the one's gettin picked on. It's like playin "The Dozens" there's always one person who laughs the loudest but then whants to fight when someone gets them good!

  15. Arrielle Brown Says:

Okay… I like Tyler, enjoys his movies and stage plays and on some days his TV shows. And I do believe that he shows a real depiction of SOME black people. I know people just like the ones in the movie and have a few Madeas (women with the same attitude not men dressing up as women) in my family. Black folks arent one sided. The same way you have ghetto black people you also have conservative straight-laced black people. Now with that being said, I laughed my ass off at the episode. YES I AM A BOONDOCKS FAN! I have season 1 &2 on DVD, counted the day til season 3 would air and will be buying this one! Seriously though, Aaron has nothing to lose so he's going in on everyone this season. This will be the last season of the Boondocks so he's not looking to see who's feelings he hurts. He's going in on all of them. Hell the first episode this season was dissing Obama. Tyler, it aint that serious and besides, the episode will be on the DVD so whatever! BET tried that same stuff last season and both banned episodes are on DVD. Just move the hell on Tyler…

  16. @dinastyinc Says:

"It's always funny when it's not you."

  17. @litebrite09 Says:

Yes!!! I defintely saw that one too….It was hilarious…."My anus is fine, and I'm going to make sure those young boys anuses will be just fine too!!"…."Pause…" LMAO

  18. Miss Jia Says:

    Hey boo :)

  19. @dinastyinc Says:

I counted the days until this would happen.
The Boondocks is a satirical comic strip/television show. That's why I didn't understand when people were so upset with the Uncle Ruckus character even during season 1. "It's making Black people look bad." IT'S A SATIRE!

South Park has been poking at everybody under the sun for yearssss; Matt and Trey are still going strong. The Boondocks couldn't even get 3 seasons before you run the man off for simply expressing his craft. If the execs at the top aren't gonna back Aaron up, shit I'd walk too. Dave Chappelle did the same thing.
They basically told him Tyler Perry, mega million business tycoon, is gonna bring in more ratings (i.e. $$$$$$$$$$) than you and your "little comic strip", Aaron. Goodbye.

The 1st Amendment vs. the defamation of character and slander is really what this argument boils down to. It doesn't have to be true, but if people believe its true, then its slander.

  20. Rodchester Says:

I have never been a Tyler Perry fan, but that doesn't mean I want his garbage banned or I think other people should not have the choice to see his coon theater. But I don't understand how someone could think in today's digital age that you can 'ban' anything. It's like a cat that's been let out of a bag, once it's out, it's not going back in. It's too easy to download, record from a VCR, dvr and pass it along. All this does, by him getting so angry about it, brings up that old saying, "Me thinks thou, protest too much". As for him employing Black people and this being the greatest thing of all…… well Amos N' Andy employed alot Black people too when it was on. That doesn't mean it's good for us as a whole or that it still can't be stereotypically racist.

  21. ailahs7 Says:

yes the booty warrior was a TRIP."I likes ya and I wants ya.Now we can do this the easy way or the hard way.The choice is yaarrs."LMAO!!!!!!!!!!1

  22. Marty Says:

Tyler Perry is doing nothing but adding fuel to the fire. I don't see Obama trying to stop the first episode of the 3rd season from airing. BET did the same thing last season, because what the episodes depicted were obviously true to some extent. Not helping your case buddy.

That episode was probably one of the funniest of the season after 'The Fundraiser'.
"I am dark skinned and bald, therefore i hate you and I hate Jesus."

  23. OTT Says:

He is acting just like the character on the Pause episode. It's a shame that Tyler would have this much power over a network due to his successful buffoonery shows. If black people didn't have more ill-informed, mislead, and coonery black people than intelligent and intellectual black people, Tyler wouldn't have this power. How in the hell did Tyler shows become so popular: House of Shame and Meet the Clowns.

  24. OTT Says:

    Thank you for thinking intelligently.

  25. OTT Plus Says:

Yes, Tyler's coonery has taken over the networks. What happened to the positive shows like Moesha, One on One, The Parkers, Thea, etc. These shows depicted urban black live, which can be a little animated, but they never portrayed coonery. Tyler's fans are allowing him to take over the black world. The parents and the children love to sit in front of this mess and slap their leg silly. Where is the guidance?

  26. Oprah is Responsible Says:

The reason why there are not many black shows, is because Tyler has taken over the networks. We only see Tyler Perry movies and t.v. shows. There could be more, but just like the cartoon depicted, Tyler is using his power to shut down all the other t.v. producers. We are lucky to have Ice Cube back on the air in Are We There Yet, which is good, wholesome and funny, just like the Fresh Prince. Tyler is taking over the minds of black people and TNT drank the kool-aid.

  27. MoneyAin'tEverything Says:

Blah, blah, blah. Tyler is employing black people. Tyler owns his own show. So what? Money does not equal success! Tyler owning his own show should mean that he has more responsibility in producing quality shows. Tyler's money have garnered him the privilege of travelling around the world, meeting with dignitaries, and eating some of the finest cuisine. Then he comes back from his travels, to give the black community $2.00 shows. He probably write his scripts on the plane and complete the movie in a week. Take our money, and then travel to some exotic land. He is pimping the black community. Do you really want a character who is playing a fire chief to say, "You Heard Me?" WTF?

  28. ... Says:

see, this is why i don't fuck with tyler perry. aside from my growing distaste with his movies (they've gotten progressively worse, sans why did i get married 1) and television shows (i lose IQ points every time i watch house of payne), he just takes himself too damn seriously. i get that seeing yourself made fun of probably hurts, especially if it's close to home, but it comes with the territory of being a celebrity. people will say things about you and it's up to you to determine what effect they had on you. he could have just laughed this off, called these fools crazy, and nothing else would have been said about it. i actually would have been like "oh wow, that's a cool move from TP, i didn't expect that". but no, he had to get butthurt (…pause…) about it because he thinks he's the black stephen spielberg or some shit. whatever, madea…

  29. OTT Says:

Yep. Tyler is shutting down all the other black shows just like the cartoon depicted. Why couldn't he give this show a break, considering that it has black employees too? "I'm going to get me some kool-aid."

  30. ... Says:

but the thing is, he reuses actors 3-4-5 times, so he's not really throwing out a whole lot of new talent. i get that other directors do that, but white actors have so many more opportunities that it doesn't set them back.

tyler's work is under more scrutiny because it's the ONLY depiction of black people that we get to see on a mainstream basis. if there were a handful of sitcoms and moves that were being made each year, i don't think he'd get as much shade about his product, as much as every drop of it is deserved IMO. when television is 98% white (just a made up number), you need POSITIVE representations of minorities.

  31. RedHotChiliPepper Says:

LOL "he had to get butthurt" now that was funny!

  32. Samyzee Says:

OK, so where were the black shows and movies BEFORE Tyler Perry stepped on the scene? They were just as few and far between as they are now.

And Tyler isn't taking over the minds of black people at all. He just has a LARGE fan base (People from all demographics mind you) who supported his work BEFORE he was huge. I'm actually not even one of them. If I tell you that I've seen more than 5 minutes of either of his sitcoms, I'd be lying.

Tyler DOES NOT have enough weight in the industry to shut down anything that other networks want to do. The bottom line is the industry just isn't checking for black sitcoms because they networks don't feel as though they'd be AS successful as white shows that air on the same network.

  33. Samyzee Says:

And yes, while he may recycle his actors and actresses, it's more than that. What about behind the scenes? More black people are given the opportunity to fulfill their dreams.

With that said, I understand exactly why people attack Tyler Perry as mentioned in my post. They don't like his work because his is just about the only depiction of black people that's out. BUT that isn't HIS fault! Tyler Perry is self made. He started from nothing and has some loyal fans. TV networks JUMPED at the chance to put him on TV because of his fan base and he's doing what he has been doing for his fans.

Say Tyler Perry never did those plays. Take his sitcoms off television and lets pretend as if his movies don't exist. What are we left with? Nothing. The only black sitcoms that come on television now are all reruns with the exception of Ice Cube's new show. It is not Tyler Perry's fault. You can't crucify him for his vision. Networks aren't checking for black shows. Period.

  34. @dinastyinc Says:

I don't like the TV shows either. I tried watching when House of Payne first aired. I didn't last past 10 episodes.

I don't care much for his movies either, besides Diara of a Mad Black Woman.

The plays are truly his best work.

  35. @dinastyinc Says:

OMG! You like King of the Hill too!!!
That is my ish. I actually started it watching it years ago by mistake because I set something to record on DVR, and it recorded King of the Hill by mistake. I was hooked since, and made it my mission to see EVERY episode.

Sadly, I guess a lot of America didn't get it because the ratings sank and they pulled it off the air.
    Now Boondocks is leaving.

But not to worry, House of Payne and Meet the Browns is STILL on the air. <_<

  36. manda Says:

Him doing this move confirms everyone suspensions. Do you see Alice Walker having his movie banned for his The Color Purple references?

  37. manda Says:

Tyler act like him pulling his shows off the air will hurt Turner, trust and believe, if his shows were on any other network they would have been canceled middle of season 1.

  38. LEEK Says:

This is just proves that the people the Aaron McGruder and Rodney Barnes poke fun at are real life versions if their cartoon characters. First it was Debra Lee & Reginald Hudlin (BET exec.), now it's Tyler Perry.

Secondly, Perry was been doing movies for 5 years. Isn't it about time we see a bio-pic of a black person that has contributed to history. Charles Drew, Madam C.J. Walker, Medgar Evers, Emmitt Till etc. The black expierence is is centuries old, theirs too many people to choose from.

Another thing why is every black movie filmed in Atlanta, I understand ATL is the home of the Civil Rights movement, but what about Baltimore, St. Louis, Cleveland, Memphis, New Orleans. There's more than one Chocolate City in America.

  39. LEEK Says:

This also going to make the DVD commentary funny as hell

  40. leah Says:

One on One still comes on…

  41. Arrielle Brown Says:

Yep this is it. I was so mad but hey Aaron is going out with a bang.

  42. Arrielle Brown Says:

I thought the same thing. Tyler makes fun of everything in his shows and plays and movies… this is a bit hypocritical to me.

  43. Arrielle Brown Says:

Atlanta is supposed to be the new "Black" Hollywood so he built his studios there.

  44. jazzy Says:

I'm sorry people should not sit here and complain. What good will that do? How about write your own damn scripts and start doing things for yourself and quite worrying about Tyler Perry. T.V sucks in general and if some ignorant ass person still believes everything they see on T.V then I feel sorry for them. We can't always depend on others to break the door down and change things to how we will like it.

  45. LEEK Says:

True , but not every movie is filmed in L.A. or N.Y. Post-production in these cities… yes, but filming strictly in these cities…no

  46. dinastyinc Says:

Most of those shows still come on some networks out there, in the form of syndication.

I think the point he/she was making, and I totally agree with, is why aren't more Black sitcoms being created? The 90s was filled with them. (My personal fave is Living Single.) Hell we even had UPN, an entire network, that dedicated Mondays and Thursdays to 4 Black sitcoms each night.

Now that it's The CW, how many of those shows do you see still around? How many Black shows on that network do you see period? I'm happy for Tristan Wilds and his role on 90210, but his presence does not make it a Black show. #nobueno for them.

  47. dinastyinc Says:

You know what, you DO make an excellent point, Manda.

  48. dinastyinc Says:

    ^ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turner was around before Tyler Perry, and they will press on after he's gone. They're just biding time right now by being basically the only network on TV with a Black sitcom.

Newsflash to you youngins, VH1 and its endless strings of Black reality shows does not count.

  49. JUSTASTYLIST Says:

His shows are so popular because black people dont have anything else to watch with us in it. other than white shows where we are really the minority, with that being said tyla marie fariee is being just that. SIT DOWN SOMEWHERE I LIKE THE BOONDOCKS!!!!!

  50. dinastyinc Says:

I'm a writer. I would love to be able to write for a sitcom some day, as I have so many different, new ideas every day.

But if there is a monopoly on the industry, what can you do about it? Little fish in a big pond. Unless you're sitting at the top, the one pulling the marianette strings with $ signs attached to it, it's pretty hard to get anywhere.

Tyler Perry himself is living proof of that. His plays started out in shitty ass theaters on the "chitlin circuit." Nobody was checkin for his ass. While I understand that you won't get to the top straight away, and it will take hard work and perserverance, and I'm up for the challenge, I need opportunity to be on the other side of that door as well, waiting for me to knock.

  51. OTT Says:

No, black people would rather talk for long hours about how Disney did not do The Princess Frog justice and why Angelina Jolie got chosen to play Cleopatra, instead of forcing Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels to create these movies themselves.

Jean Baptiste DuSable was a free black man who discovered Chicago. The reason why every non black person think that we were all slaves who came from Africa, is because they are not told these truths in movies. This truth will change the way American thinks. They will know for certain that all black people were not slaves and there were many of us walking around free in the north who were never, ever slaves.

Instead, Tyler and Lee wants to keep producing movies around slavery. I heard that Lee's next project is The Montgomery Bus Boycott. Damn. Is there anybody in America who does not know that story? There is no need to keep the past going in order to freely progress in the future. How many movies about the Holocaust have you seen? The Jewish people do not need to keep America reminded of their holocaust in order for them not to forget it happened.

If Tyler, Oprah, and Lee want to keep making these slavery, jim crow-based movies, then they should make them for educational purposes only, and submit them as documentaries or in a school library for people to study. They should never put our pain on the red carpet.

I say that we boycott House of Shame and Meet the Clowns, to show TNT that they cannot let one man determine what we see. How about it, yall. Or, are you just full of fish and grits.

  52. Leah Says:

I agree. It's hard to get in the door but keep doing your thing and hope to see your show on T.v someday:) It seems to be more about who you are associated with then your actual talent which is a shame. So many talented people will never get the chance b/c of that.

  53. Leah Says:

Yeah i know i was just saying but i agree.

  54. OTT Plus Says:

That's exactly my point, which is why it is so easy to believe the Pause episode showing Tyler as forcing the networks to make him the dominant force. I believe behind the scenes, he is the one that is causing these shows to not see the light of day.

Remember when he complained about the character in the movie This Christmas? The mother of the show was called Ma Dear, which we all know is a southern term for addressing mothers. But Tyler said that it sounded a lot like Madea. I will not put it pass Tyler that he is ruling the television and movies. He can't rule Will Smith, because hey, let's be real, he ain't got it like that.

Let's boycott House of Shame and Meet the Clowns to send a message to the network that we will not be bullied into one black producer, creating one show. Damn, he may be the reason The Game was sent to BET.

Trust me, the closer you look at Tyler, the more you see the Pause episode.

  55. OTT Says:

Well, if you write a coonish movie like Lee Daniels's Precious (and I am not speaking negatively of the real life Preciouses of the world) Tyler and Oprah will stand by it 100%.

  56. OTT Plus Says:

Black people haven't learned to appreciate smart comedy, because Tyler is forcing his brand of no-thinking slapstick comedy on our brain. These are some of the non-coonery black shows that were produced before Tyler: Sister Sister, Living Single, One on One, The Parkers, Thea, All of Us, Eve, The Roc, Half & Half, The PJ's (say what you want, but the PJs had a positive message), Moesha. I'm sure there is more than I can't think of right now.

  57. Just Say No Says:

Wouldn't you rather see nothing, instead of buffoonery and coonery? Damn, the internet is more entertaining.

  58. Leah Says:

That episode was funny but I can see how Tyler would get offended by it. Now if you excuse me I'm get me some kool aid:) lol

  59. Arrielle Brown Says:

    #Kanyeshrug

  60. Arrielle Brown Says:

    …the shows are on TBS

  61. OTT Says:

Yes, they are on TBS, not TNT. I stand corrected. But, they are both owned by Turner.

  62. Robyn Says:

All this says to me is PANIC!! No one else had episodes canceled. If someone made a movie about me liking my cousin, I would probably make a joke about it in the next interview. Rushing to get it banned, says that it could be true. Now, I dont care whether it's true or not, but he should have thought before acting impulsively. It's a cartoon. The boondocks makes fun of everyone. And it's not that big of a deal. I dont think anyone should be made fun of, but if all shows are gonna be taken off the air for this, you might as well X all sitcoms, family guy, south park and every other adult swim cartoon right along with it

  63. mister.bee Says:

LMAO!!!! That episode was funny as hell. It's only entertainment.
The Boondocks is my fav show, therefore I will
still be watching that and not that raggedy ass House
    of Lame.
Good day Madam Perry, we know your Tea.

  64. sickwitit Says:

there are plenty movies about the holocaust…and im sure there will be more in the future

  65. OTT Says:

How many were made this year?

  66. Raven S. Says:

I never understood the logic of people saying things that sound similar to someone telling my parents not to complain about being bit by a German shepard during the 60's and how they shouldn't be troublemakers? If someone like a Tyler Perry is on some bs, it is a requirement for anyone Black and who loves themselves and other Black people to stand up and call that bs out. No, it is not a requirement that I know how or write my own damn play or movie. I do have a choice whether or not I want to see his step n fetch routine, granted. But regardless of intelligence level. TV is a powerful propaganda device. Millions if not Billions of people all over the world get their only information about Black people from that source. So, if some coonery is going on then it must be checked.

  67. Raven S. Says:

'Jazzy' when I read comments like that I sometimes think does this Tyler Perry clown actually pay people to troll around on blogs and type crap supporting his idiocy? It sounds like: A doctor about to perform surgery on your kid shows up to the operation high and drunk. You say, Hell no, you are not operating like that on my kid. He say's, did you go to medical school, do you know how to do the surgery? As if any of that has to do with the fact that he is on some bullshit. Just because I am never going to run in the olympics doesn't mean I can't question whether the person who won the race was on steroids. At the core of the argument is can a possibly closeted Gay man give women, REAL women relationship advice and why would anyone listen to the advice of someone being so dishonest with their own life. This man couldn't have found a Black Female actress to play Madea?

  68. Lauren Brianne Hernandez Says:

shit, im glad i have my DVR :)

  69. dinastyinc Says:

Right. And I refuse to stoop that low.
Hell I've been writing and rewriting the same damn book going on 10 years now because I don't wanna present the world with bullshit as a representation of me.

I want to be better than some "hood-rich" novel. I want to tell a real, compelling story.

  70. @dinastyinc Says:

You know, you do make an interesting point. My friend and I always joke around how I book will never be featured on Oprah's Book Club because it doesn't have any slaves in it.

  71. c0c0puffz Says:

i wish i saw that episode.

  72. @musicallyphresh Says:

i cosign everything but The Parkers- maybe it's just me, but i always thought the way that Monique ran after Professor Oglvy (sp?) was tack/degrading…that plus the fact that they were only in junior college and kim was a complete idiot…

  73. Samyzee Says:

Do you realize that Tyler Perry can't force people to watch anything he puts out? Do you think Tyler Perry's audience consist of only black people? That's what a lot of you don't get. Whether or not you like Tyler Perry's work, his was able to transcend racial lines and that is what networks feel other black shows may not be capable of!

If you don't like it, don't watch.
Go get some friends together and boycott his work.

  74. Jazz Says:

Tyla aka Tyler needs to quit being an arrogant drama queen!

  75. Dana Davenport Says:

"I'm gone get me some Kool Aid" and read these comments.

  76. lostarks Says:

The networks have his back now! he should be making biblical movies also. if he did the 10 commandments with black stars, lets see how quick the get rid off him.

  77. lostarks Says:

hey! how about getting rush limbaugh off the air, he calls obama magic negro everyday. and i don't see black people saying anything.

  78. jazzy Says:

Oh shut the fuck up! And quit bitching to me about you not liking Tyler Perry.

  79. jazzy Says:

If u feel that way then boycott his ass and for the record I am not a Tyler Perry stan I just do not find whining productive!

  80. leah Says:

    I agree with Samyzee!

  81. jazzy Says:

Are u kidding me some of those shows were just as much to blame for containing elements of coonery as Tyler Perry..find better examples.

And I said some not all of them.

  82. WellDamn Says:

    Wow, what a reach!

  83. WellDamn24 Says:

Aaron McGruder is tripping. Not because of Pause episode, but because all he has is the show. Unless he lives like he's making $30K a year, then dude needs to have some back up plans going on.

NEVER TRUST TV NETWORKS; THEY ALWAYS CANCEL SHOWS WITH NO WARNING.

  84. WellDamn24 Says:

Exactly where is your proof that Tyler Perry is "taking over the networks"?

To the best of my knowledge TP has 2 shows on one network. That's leaves all the other ones.

To some degree people fault TP for being successful. Pretty much playing crabs in the barrel. Is his stuff stereotypically? Yes. But folks like my grandmother love his stuff.

Maybe if we focused on building more lanes instead of hating on the fastest folks all crammed in one lane, we would be better off as a race.

  85. WellDamn24 Says:

I am PATIENTLY waiting for the first internet networks with shows that are only online and consolidated in such a way as to have some level of strength and longevity.

TV is so retro and the way that these networks can silence good characters and story lines is ridiculous.

  86. leah Says:

oops this was suppose to be a reply to a comment.

  87. RobertTownsend Says:

Diary of a Single Mom by Robert Townsend got off to a great start with two seasons. All the fans of the show are waiting for season 3. Google "Diary of a Single Mom" and check out the facebook site. In addition, BET Buppies is cool and I am hoping they return for a second season. Tyler Perry needs to retire Madea back to the stage and take it out of the movie theaters.

  88. Name the Shows Says:

Name the ones that were coonery. Also, the fact that Tyler transcending racial lines with his buffoonery makes it more embarrassing. I wished he would have kept it in a container for the lowest of black folks.

  89. Tyler&Oprah Says:

How can we build more lanes, when Tyler is protesting against them?

  90. OTT Says:

Speak the truth, boo. Speak the damn truth.

  91. whatev Says:

So far this year, about 15.

But you're right: if people didn't watch the garbage Tyler produces, he wouldn't be able to continue to produce it.

While I myself don't support programs like Tyler Perry's, I respect his right to freedom of speech and creative expression. Too bad his ego won't allow him to show Aaron MacGruder that same respect.

  92. grafittix Says:

Fear not, Tyler has now guaranteed you'll be able to see it online or buy a bootleg copy.

  93. @lolamarya Says:

The episode was HILARIOUS to me. People who are famous get roasted. Tyler needs to man up and just deal with it while he counts his millions of dollars. Hell, he's got money. Why worry about what other people are saying?….. While he cross-dresses because Jesus told him to, lmao.

  94. dinastyinc Says:

That's because I don't watch, listen, or pay attention to anything Rush Limbaugh has to say. I've known he was an idiot for years.

  95. dinastyinc Says:

Truly. I sometimes feel like I'm biased since I am a theatre major.

But I truly enjoy films. And Madea's spontaneity worked better on stage. Her presence in movies isn't as laughable as it's supposed to be to me.

  96. WellDamn24 Says:

Exactly what protest is that? Again, where's that proof? Give us a link with that interview with TP.

It's a self-defeating attitude to assume that Tyler Perry, basically a newbie in the industry, has so much power that he can delete other Black shows.

We have got to do better people. We are shackling our minds in order to defend our lazy behinds.

  97. Arcane Says:

…Good luck with that–White people love racist, delusional, Attention-Whoring, white assholes like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O' Reilly, Don Imus, Glen Beck, etc. Their shows will NEVER be pulled for anything they say pertaining to black people (And before anyone says anything about Don Imus's show being pulled, he was offered a similar job and put back on the air within a few months)…

  98. Arcane Says:

Why don't YOU 'shut the fuck up and quit bitching' about people telling the truth about your Gay Idol Tyler Perry.

Face the facts–Coonery is Coonery, whether it's sponsored by a white person or a black one, idiot, and the fact that you're both completely okay with Tyler Perry's Coonery, and defending him like you're on the Payroll only (further) exposes you as the Tyler Perry Kool-Aid drinker you are.

'Fans' /Kool-Aid drinkers like you act like Tyler Perry is magically above criticism because the pandering trite he calls his 'productions' made you feel good about your own shitty situation. Well guess what? Neither he nor any other Celebrity/Public Figure is above criticism, good or bad.

    Get over it.

  99. jax Says:

    *waves church fan*

  100. jax Says:

NOT "House of Shame and Meet the Clowns"

    MY SPIRIT! lol

  101. jax Says:

    YAAAAAAASSS.
I have always said that Tyler better not rock the boat because we all know "reconsidering his relationship with the network" would NOT be an astute business move.
Who else is going to air your MESS?
BET? Oh, you can have that if you can get it (remember, they are moving towards reality shows).

  102. jax Says:

I'm not here for bitter queens.

  103. kayman Says:

Damn!!! I'm dead @ "House of Shame" & "Meet the Clowns"

  104. kayman Says:

Actually, TBS, TNT, and Cartoon Network are all owned by Time Warner, Inc. Turner Broadcasting is a semi-autonomous subsidiary of Time Warner, and has been since 1996.

  105. kayman Says:

Tyler Perry is a closeted homosexual black male that cross dresses for a living, and so? He needs to pump his own brakes before somebody cut the line on his ass…

  106. What is a Coon? Says:

A coon is a black actor or actress, who takes roles that stereotypically portrays black people. They think theyve made it but they are slaves to the same images. A.k.a sellout
It comes from the term baracoons (a cage), where they used to place Africans, who were waiting to be sent to America to be slaves. They had no idea of this, so some of them were even eager waiting in the baracoons.

  107. jazzy Says:

Arcane fuck u too idiot!! If you don't like what I have to say then get the fuck off my comment u dumb whore! And 4 the record since u cannot read worth shit I never said I was a fan moron!!!

  108. wth!! Says:

Arcane why don't you STFU your probably the same coon kissing whitey's ass for a paycheck so please get lost!

  109. Arcane Says:

jazzy, fuck you, bitch! I'll comment on/reply to whatever comment I want to, and there's nothing you or the other asshole Coon 'wth!!' can do about it.

Coons of a Feather, flock together, which is more than obvious seeing you two assholes defend Tyler Perry and his Coonery.

And don't ever come at me sideways like that in your pathetic excuse for a 'life again.'

    Bitch.

  110. Arcane Says:

wth!!, why don't you STFU. You know NOTHING about me, including where I work and who I work for. That's what you get for ASSuming and jumping into conversations that had nothing to do with your bitch-made ass to begin with. 'So please, get lost!'

    Coon.

  111. Black Says:

It kills me when people think these celebrities need to suck air just because they are celebrities…most of you guys can't take it when a gay guys walks on the same sidewalk
as you but dude should just sit back and laugh at some mess like this! We've all seen
Boondocks and yes there are some funny episodes but this was more than that…dude
went for blood on Tyler and it showed. This wasn’t just the twisted comedy of Aaron,
dude wrote this script like he want to destroy ol Tyler and everyone here knows it.
Again, I know we should shake a lot of things off in life but most of you can’t take
somebody up the street spreading lies about you so imagine if they did it on this level!!!
    PLEASE!
