Inside, the stylish songstress talks about everything from being an independent artist to raising her 8-year-old son, Julez, and her bold fashion choices. She reveals that even as a child, she’s always had a very vivid imagination when it comes to her style and fashion. She shares a time when her fourth-grade teacher, Miss Bethann, found her on the verge of tears in a Pocahontas costume outside of the classroom and gave her a lesson that really stuck with her:
“Don’t you ever, ever bend or break because of who you are.”
From that point, the idea of convention versus non-convention or mainstream versus indie or any of those quote-unquote ‘conflicts’ has never crossed my mind.
