Inside, the stylish songstress talks about everything from being an independent artist to raising her 8-year-old son, Julez, and her bold fashion choices. She reveals that even as a child, she’s always had a very vivid imagination when it comes to her style and fashion. She shares a time when her fourth-grade teacher, Miss Bethann, found her on the verge of tears in a Pocahontas costume outside of the classroom and gave her a lesson that really stuck with her:

“Don’t you ever, ever bend or break because of who you are.”

From that point, the idea of convention versus non-convention or mainstream versus indie or any of those quote-unquote ‘conflicts’ has never crossed my mind.

Solange Sisterly Love: Beyoncé & Solange Bond Over Bounce Music

I love that lately we’re getting more and more candid and behind-the-scenes look from Beyoncé.

After last night’s Life Is But A Dream premiere, Bey and friends gathered for an after party at Christie’s, with lil’ sis Solange rocking the 1s and 2s.

At one point Solo dropped a classic New Orleans bounce track for the partygoers, and her and Baddie Bey were clearly loving it. The Knowles sisters were caught on tape laughing and dancing to the track, and it looks like they were having a blast.

Solange EW Solange Talks Julezs Musical Aspirations & Plans To Move Back Down South

Solange Knowles covers the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. Inside, the singer/fashion maven talks about her 8-year-old son, Julez’s plans to be a rapper one day, and moving back to the south…

I’m such a Southern girl. I plan on moving back in the next year or two, when it makes sense for Julez schoolwise. I think either Austin or New Orleans. Somewhere warm, for sure.

Although she’s afraid of her son being in the music industry, she shares one of his rhymes during the interview:

You don’t know how to rap/You’re so fat, like a rat in a mousetrap/You got a pen?/No? I didn’t think so/I’ll get you one if you know how to flow, yo/You got a pocket? I didn’t think so/Because you’re like an armadillo in the road, bro/Have you seen the movie hunger games?

What do you think of little Julez’s rhyme? Post your thoughts!
