Ashanti 500x287 Ashanti Lands Role on Army Wives

It looks like Ashanti will be adding another line to her acting resume.

After appearing in films like Coach Carter and John Tucker Must Die, she’s now taking her talents to the small screen, with a role on Lifetime’s Army Wives.

The singer will have a recurring role as Latasha Durant, a single mother of three, including a son with Cystic Fibrosis. The Hollywood Reporter describes the character as ‘a survivor with no self-pity who is determined to wrench all the joy out of life that she can. She’s a sexy, fun woman who knows how to keep a husband — and keep him in line.’

This is one show I honestly don’t know a whole lot about, but I do know it has quite the following. Are any of you guys Army Wives fans? How do you think Ashanti will fit in with show? Post your thoughts!

On a recent promotional stop at the Best Buy Theater in New York City, Keyshia Cole brought out Ashanti to perform the remix to the title track, Woman To Woman, from her new album (in stores now). Both singers did their thing on stage as they acted out a mock conversation for the crowd, and went back and forth in the hypothetical scenario over their cheating man.

KeyshiaCole RollingOut 473x600 Keyshia Cole Covers Rolling Out + Releases New Woman To Woman Remix Feat. Ashanti

With her new LP, Woman To Woman, set to be released next Monday, Singer, Keyshia Cole, appears on the latest cover of Rolling Out where she talks about her favorite celebrity couples, how she knew husband, Daniel Gibson, was the one, and balancing family life with a hectic schedule.

Do you remember the day you realized Daniel was the one?

I thought he was beautiful the first time we met. We had been talking for months before we physically met each other. We had ups and downs in our relationship, and we grew from it. When you make a commitment to marriage, you have to be serious about it. You can love the person you are with, but you have to be sure that you’re ready to make that commitment. This is not only for when times are good — marriage is for the remainder of our lives. [It’s for] building a life and making the best life for your children.

Are there any couples in entertainment you admire for being examples of a strong family?

I respect Beyoncé and Jay-Z, because I know how hard it can be to stay in love in this business. In the beginning, it appeared as if Jay-Z knew Beyoncé had work to do. I respect that. You can’t go into a relationship trying to change someone. You have to grow with that person and go through everything with them. That’s one thing that I noticed and I respect about them. Of course, I’m not with them every day, but that’s what I see from the outside looking in.

How do you balance family life with a hectic road schedule?

I can’t do it alone. It takes a village to raise a child. I have family who help me when I need it. My son’s grandparents have also been very helpful. [His grandfather] recently spent two weeks with us, and for him to see his papa was wonderful.

What do you want your overall message to be for those who relate to your songs?

I didn’t have great examples while coming up in Oakland. I was able to look to examples in the industry such as Brandy. She was able to do a lot at an early age. In Mary J. Blige I saw strength. She never gave up. That’s what I want to leave behind. I want young women to know that where they start doesn’t have to be where they finish. You have to take it a day at a time. You go through things, you learn and you keep fighting.

Some of your faves were out looking their finest Monday night, and all for a good cause. Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research held their annual ball at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC, and the event was swarming with celebs.

Ashanti Interview Video: Ashanti Will Be The New Host & Executive Producer Of Fuse News

Ashanti stopped by Kathie Lee & Hoda this morning to announce that she will be the new executive producer and host of Fuse TV’s Fuse News. Ashanti will be the voice behind the theme song and will appear along side co-hosts, Alexa Chung, Elaine Moran, and Jack Osbourne. The daily, 30 minute program will cover pop culture, music news and current events.

It’s basically a music news show that’s kind of filling the void. We use to have TRL back in the day on MTV, and they kind of went toward reality TV. This is something that I think we’re going to pioneer and inject something back into music. I’m really excited about it… We’re basically going to be talking about album sales, iTunes, and what’s going on. Maybe we’ll get into a little bit of the relationships of who’s dating who. We’re going to be watching new videos, new artists, performances, so it’s going to be really cool.

When Hoda asked her who she was currently dating, Ashanti kept it short and cute and took that time to plug her upcoming studio album, Braveheart, instead.

This album is something very deep, It’s just being a woman and building a brand. I hope that this is inspiring to women in general. This album is amazing, so many different producers and it’s kind of deep. I’m going places that I haven’t gone on other albums.

Watch the interview below and post your thoughts!

AN5 Nelly Finally Opens Up About His Relationship With Ashanti

Nelly has recently been dealing with Dilemmas that even Kelly Rowland can’t help him out with. The rapper recently sat down for an interview on the Baltimore’s 92QThe KO Show.”

Nelly cleared up rumors about his alleged heavy cocaine and drug use (which could land him in cocaine rehabilitation), and the rumor that he and Ashanti fell out about money.

He says the rumors of his drug use are insane because he's "bad drug free," whatever that means.

The interviewer also questioned him about his 10 year relationship with r&b singer Ashanti. There had been rumors the two fell out due to Nelly owing her $500,000.

Nelly laughed at the rumors about money and simply said they were false. As for the relationship, Nelly played it safe saying, "we're pretty cool."

I wish these two would just confirm what the world already knows. They could be the next Jay & Beyonce. Just a less successful version.

Do you think he was being honest about these rumors?

Ashanti Gets Colorful for No One Greater Cover Art

I’m super surprised she doesn’t have her hand on her hip for this one.

Ashanti recently dropped the cover art for her single, No One Greater, featuring Meek Mill & French Montana. Shot by celebrity photographer, Robert Ector, the singer looks festive and fun with the bright colors. Let’s just hope that this song can brighten up her status on the charts.

Haven’t heard No One Greater yet? Give it a listen below and post your thoughts.

Ashanti21 500x500 Little Engine That Could: Ashanti Performs She Cant/Like Mine + Photos

Ashanti has no issues showing off her curves in barely there outfits and further proved that point during an appearance at Liquid Sundays at Foxwood Resorts & Casinos in Connecticut.

In addition to showing off her tits and cakes, she also did an exclusive performance of a track called She Can’t/Like Mine. Although the ‘boom’ takes over in the video and you can barely understand it, one thing that’s clear (based on the sound and lyrics alone)…this girl hasn’t really had a growth spurt, musically.

You told me you love me, You told me you cared
You said there’d be no more mistakes, Yeah you said
You said you were sorry. it won’t happen again
You keep running back ’cause you know
I got that (Oh!)
She can’t love, She can’t touch you like (Oh!)
She won’t kiss, She won’t f- you like (Oh!)
She ain’t got a body like mine
Face like mine, a brain, not like mine (Oh, No!)

I’ve said many times before that I think that Ashanti is a pretty talented writer and vocally, she does okay for herself. But when you listen to some of her material, there’s no evidence of growth…no real evolution. I’m waiting for it.

What do you guys think?
