Singers, Adele, Alicia Keys, and Rita Ora, have all been chosen to grace separate covers for Elle magazine’s May 2013 Women in Music issue.
For this year’s Women in Music Issue, the ELLE team traveled from L.A. to London to capture three of today’s brightest stars—Adele, Alicia Keys, and Rita Ora—for our rotating covers. We photographed Adele at L.A.’s iconic EastWest Studios, where Frank Sinatra recorded his greatest hits… Across the street, we shot Alicia on the rooftop of Siren Studios… She radiated cool New York glamour, relaxing and singing along to a Grace Jones album. We then flew to London to shoot Rita Ora… Rita definitely has a special aura.
Elle’s Women in Music issue hits stands April 23rd. Until then, check out more photos below, and post your thoughts!

It looks like Alicia Keys and my writer, Juicy Carter, have something in common…they love Haribo Gummy Bears.
Alicia recently spoke with Extra TV about touring with Miguel, her son, Egypt, living the rockstar lifestyle, and the secret to maintaining her voice when performing.
On the new tour:
Miguel’s with me on the road… I feel so grounded and feel so in my element and in my space which is rare, cause it usually takes you a good 10 shows in to kind of start to figure it out so that’s a big blessing.
On taking her son, Egypt, on the road with her:
He’s officially a rock star, especially the other night when I looked at the clock. It was 12:30, he was up and I was like ‘Oh no!’ He’s young enough to be able to enjoy this process and I’m happy I can show him different places in the world and he can meet different people and he’s so social and engaged… I’m happy about all that, but that bedtime, ugh.
On maintaining her voice from city to city:
You melt a handful of gummy bears in hot water and something about the glycerin that really clears your voice. And it was amazing, my vocal coach told me it’s like an ancient secret… now I can eat gummy bears anytime I want!

Last night, during the fourth stop on her Set the World on Fire tour at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, Alicia Keys began singing the Janet Jackson-sampled hook to Poetic Justice before Compton MC, Kendrick Lamar, surprised her fans by joining the songstress on stage to perform the rest of his hit single.

Singer, Alicia Keys, stopped by The Wendy Williams Show yesterday to dish on her new album, Girl On Fire, falling for Swizz Beatz, having more children, and her son, Egypt, putting the moves on Blue Ivy.
I think Egypt kissed Blue… I don’t think Jay liked it very much. He called my husband and he was like, ‘Watch your son.’

Last night, a hoarse Alicia Keys, and her piano took center stage during half-time at the NBA All-Star game. Despite being in Houston, Texas, she opened with New York anthem, Empire State Of Mind, before singing a 10-minute medley of her hits (she even threw in a little dance routine…) including, No One, Girl On Fire, and New Day.

While a few folks are rushing to file paperwork to renew their unemployment benefits, Alicia Keys has officially signed on with Blackberry as their new Global Creative Director.
Keys, who once professed to being an iPhone junkie, will reportedly use her Blackberry to work closely with app developers, content creators, retailers, carriers and the entertainment community to further shape and enhance the BlackBerry 10 platform, and inspire creative use through its remarkable capabilities and functionality. From music to books, to film, to apps, Keys will lead the charge of enhancing entertainment consumption and distribution, through the power of BlackBerry 10. [SOURCE]
Alicia Keys has come to BlackBerry because she believes in the product and technology, and subscribes to our overriding philosophy to ‘Keep Moving’: to empower people through mobile computing and communications. We are excited she will be bringing to us her enormous capabilities, as well as a vast network of relationships in the entertainment, social media and business communities, to help shape our brand and grow our business. –BlackBerry President and CEO Thorsten Heins
Let this one marinate in your spirit for a minute.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a huge fan of the latest efforts from Alicia Keys (specifically, Girl on Fire), but I can’t deny that she’s kicked of 2013 in a pretty major way. The singer/songwriter, and wifey of Swizz Beatz, is set to sing the National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl, and was given the honor to perform at last night’s Inaugural Ball for President Obama.
Miss Keys parked herself at the piano, and belted out a special rendition of Girl on Fire, edited to better suit the POTUS.
Check out Alicia perform ‘Obama’s on Fire’ below, and post your thoughts!
