Sickle Cell May Have Played Role in AJ’s Death

Wow! This truly saddens me, as my sister suffers from sickle cell disease. Goodness…

Sickle Cell Anemia may have played a significant role in the death of a “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star who died after a strip club brawl two weeks ago — this according to the doctor who performed the autopsy.

Fulton County Associate Medical Examiner, Dr. Kelly Rose tells TMZ preliminary autopsy results lead her to believe Ashley “A.J.” Jewell suffered from Sickle Cell — a disease which inhibits oxygen flow to tissues in the body.

Rose says it’s most likely that Jewell was worked up from the fight — and because of his condition, it’s probable that he couldn’t replenish the oxygen he lost during the incident … which the Dr. says could have fatal consequences.

Ok i think i liked it better when they thought he died from a fight. Not becuz im a cruel bitch, but b/c i have sickle cell anemia. And i just recently got out of the hospital & i spent THREE WEEKS in there. i NEVER knew AJ had sickle cell. i dont know if they said it on the show, but i never knew! this saddens me soo much and also SCARES ME. b/c my temper is so radical & im quick to “fuck some1 up” if i need to and to think i can DIE from doing so makes me take a step back and look at ALL the times this could have been me. im in tears right now b/c its sad! sickle cell claims the live’s of people that are SO SO YOUNG! my mom’s father died from it when he was 21. my moms friend when he was 24! and this guy i used to watch on youtube died when he was 26. i mean they go so young! and im going out on a limb here but IM KINDA-HOPING! that now its put out there that more people will EDUCATE themselves on this disease and maybe Kandi will start something for sickle cell awareness seeing as we really have NO-WHERE to turn and NO SUPPORT GROUP! last month was sickle cell awareness month. i didnt see ONE COMMERCIAL ON B.E.T. OR ANYWHERE! no one sold any candy bars! BUT THIS MONTH IS CANCER AWARENESS….AND THEY ARE DOING THE MOST! big ups to people who have survived cancer and diabetes! i just think its really sad when BLACK PEOPLE (who it affects AND ONLY some mexicans) DONT KNOW ABOUT THEIR OWN DISEASE AND DONT CARE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! it makes me sick! we have no cute lil symbol/ribbon for this disease. no one really KNOWS about sickle cell until they have a sick baby or someone DIES like this. so many people have the TRAIT and DONT EVEN KNOW! b/c they dont get tested! its ridiculous! im so sad for AJ. BUT I DONT THINK THAT MAN SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH HIS DEATH AFTER KNOWING THIS!

I wonder how this will affect the charges that are against the guy whom he was fighting at the club,

    Poor guy…sorry to hear

  7. Joja86 Says:

wow..so guess this supports dude's claim that AJ was fine when he walked off. Sad to know this would kill him. Dude is probably gonna get off (unless they can prove he wasn't doing self defense or something) or have those charges reduced definitely right?

  8. Joja86 Says:

Maybe she could team up with T-Boz.to promote awareness…they already have a connection

I think I've told you before that one of my BEST friends died from sickle cell anemia, so I find this story even more tragic. I pray for Khandi and his family.
