This is a perfect example of cheaper to keep her. Nas, my dear…you better get to groveling because at this rate, you’re going to be BROKE AS HELL pretty soon!
According to docs filed by Kelis’ lawyer, disso queen Laura Wasser, the financial wizards have reviewed the earning of both parties to the divorce, and they’ve come to these conclusions.
– Nas pulls in $244,826 a month
– Kelis rakes in a relatively paltry $13,744 a month
– Kelis should get child support totaling $17,225 a month
– Kelis should get spousal support totaling $72,728
– Nas should pay retro child support totaling $29,522
– Nas should pay retro spousal support totaling $281,571

Child support is valid & expected but that spousal support is ridiculous. If you ask me, she shouldn’t even be getting that much spousal support, if any. Nas must’ve really screwed up for her to take him to the cleaners like that…

Well, the Judge did insist on an additional hearing to see if the initial payments should be adjusted. I guess her lawyer is just doing her job.
Nas screwed himself and helped her out with the internet photos of him and Maxwell with the party of groupies. I mean she was pregnant at the time of the alleged affair(s) and with so many infections and men sleeping with other men, you have no idea what you are bringing home. That was just careless and ignorant of Nas at the time.
I can understand different views of the situation but if there was a sex tape I think Nas would be a little more verbal in defense of the whole situation, so that is why I don’t think the divorce is based on that.

This has nothing to do with who cheated or a sex tape! Their divorce in not about that is was filed under irreconcilable differences…it does not matter who did what! This is totally about greed and the fact that she is trying to get all she can because she knows in the end this will be temporary for her (spousal support). Nas will not have to pay spousal support forever just temporary (they were not married long term…10 years or more)! Kelis probably feels she won’t have this chance to get this money forever so she is gone to milk it now! Her lavish lifestyle will not last long…unless she provides it for herself!

Greed? This is not about greed this is about her rights as a wife whose husband committed adultery. And, I’m quite sure that she will continue to provide for herself once the baby is old enough for her to spend hours at a studio and go on tour for months at a time. Calm down boo, and know what you are talking about.
In light of the law, there is a possibility that Nas may have to pay her until she remarries.
It is amazing how when we are in relationships we can see how our boyfriends/spouses do use wrong but there is no way Nas could have pushed her to this point, and if he was providing for the majority of her lifestyle, as his spouse, she has a right to insist on support until she is able to work again. I mean she is not coming out of the situation the way she went into it with the baby and all.

So this nigga deserves to go broke and be taken to the cleaners because he happened to cheat on the girl? This is almost as bad as the women who think Steve McNair got what he deserved for cheating- really? It’s THAT SERIOUS? Kelis should get the full amount she deserves. I'm not mad at her, hell, she has the body, flaunt it. However, Nas needs to Man UP, and handle his business. He married this girl, she's not just a "baby's mama". Therefore, he got to pay. He makes 245, 000 a month, so she should get at least 80,000 a month, maybe more.
