Kanye: “I’m the New King of Pop”
Kanye West is really giving me come hither in this photo. I wonder if Tyra would approve. If I never was before, I am 100% convinced now that Kanye says sh*t for shock value only because clearly, this jigga can NOT be serious. Since when were rappers “pop icons?”
A little over a month has passed since the death of Michael Jackson and we already have a new “King Of Pop”–at least according to Kanye West.
“You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change. It’s so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I’m willing to take that on.” Kanye is quoted as saying.
“There’s nobody who can match me in sales and in Kanye West respect so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael’s crown and become the new King,” he continued.
“First there was Elvis, then there was Michael, now in the 21st century its Kanye’s time to rule.
I have nothing but respect for Michael but someone needs to pick up where he left off and there’s nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop.”
Though Kanye has received an enormous amount of success since his 2004 mainstream debut, many argue his clout is not nearly as large as Michael Jackson’s career span.

I figured he would say something like this. And to tell you the truth, he is probably the only person that could do it. Look at this Micheal Jackson was technically a R&B singer, however his presentation, delievery, and love of his craft caused him to crossover into the pop charts (sound familiar?). Kanye West is not trying to replace him, he’s just trying to continue the legacy to set the bar so high that no person before, during, or after you can duplicate. Its not a literal meaning, it more of a metaphorical statement. C’mon now! Ya’ll should know Kan better!
Oh and people, dancing, album sells, or even singing has to do with this title, its more to deliver to the hype, and give people what they were expecting, but in a different light.

Kanye has this type of public self-challenges, he always states things that he knows that once it goes out he has to live up to. I think this is just one of those situations. Again, Kanye sets himself up to either be a big success or failure, and so far I have to say he’s doing pretty well

Being a big MJ fan and not being too old to help the next King of Pop make his way to the top of the throne, I have to beg to differ. The last person who had to STATE that they were the best ruined his career. That person was Sisqo. Now, Kanye is more talented than Sisqo (I agree), but where is the dancing, singing, and turning on people of all races, cultures, and his ability to heal the world. Kanye needs to try being the King of Rap before being the King of Pop. I think that Chris Brown is more multi-faceted and well rounded. Like Michael, Chris dances, acts, and sings. He is growing as a triple threat. He even has the controversy, but is still loved by fans. There are so many females who have the sales, but are not big concert movers. Michael had it all. Beyonce is close, but the person who will make kids, adults, women, and men cry might some day be Chris Brown. The problem with all of the people left to become the King of Pop in the new millennium is that there are not enough message songs. That’s how Michael won the hearts of many by healing the world and looking at the man in the mirror.
