J’Adore 2 Year Anniversary

I’ve debated on whether or not I would speak on this, simply b/c as most of you know, I had a working relationship with J’Adore about a year or so ago. I don’t want people to assume what I write to be out of “anger” b/c there is none. But people will assume what they want, so here goes…

While I am definitely applauding the success that J’Adore has been blessed with during their time in the magazine business, I can’t help but to side eye the idea of putting Iman anywhere near the likes of ANY video model. Don’t get me wrong…I am most certainly NOT knocking video girls, as I have no room to. However, to place Iman on the magazine to celebrate an anniversary and pair her with Melyssa Ford, Gloria Valez and Esther Baxter…it’s akin to Vibe Magazine releasing three covers and putting Jay Z on one, while putting Nick Cannon & Bubba Sparxx on the other two. It’s a digital slap in the face. Yea, I know…the concept behind it was to ‘celebrate the past, present and future,’ but if being a well known video model on BET represents anything in our future, then f*ck the recession…we’re in for even bigger troubles.

GWAAAAAAAAAAAA! you made me spit out my damned soup!

I mean I agree though, and not even that by itself but the grade of the photography on the cover was so… its like you have FRIGGIN IMAN in front of your camera and this is the BEST you can do? Iman was a model when black women thought the idea of being a supermodel would forever be fucking impossible so she needs to be on the cover with SUPERIOR photography of her.

I am not knocking Video Girls either, hell I know QUITE a few but the problem is how do you equate a career like one of Iman to that of three other people that don’t permeate beyond the black sphere? i thought legendary had no limits, it simply means a LEGEND and has no genre limitations.

you would be hard pressed to find 5 white, asian, native american, hispanic, or any other race of people who have ANY IDEA who Esther Baxter, Melyssa Ford, or Gloria Velez are and in an international culture sphere THAT is very important. To celebrate the idea of being great in as a single genre success teaches our kids to live with limitations… right?

I for one, refuse to do that shit. the sky isn’t a limit its a damn beginning

@Andrew, that looks more like a stock photo of Iman.

I didn’t know that was the concept, if it’s about money, they made more money in the past (Iman)

PS. the comparison is a sign of the era in which we live, Just like the NBA, everybody is gonna be the “next Jordan” in football, every running back is compared to Barry Sanders or some back of the past. Our era is forcing the issue on passing the torch to “somebody.”

I agree! Not a good idea at all. Iman is a legend in the modeling world, an entrepreneur of massive proportions and what do these women have? Not even enuff to get u to look past the tna. The pics arent classy and they better be watchful that Iman doesnt sue for defamation (lol). I wouldnt wannna be grouped with a bunch of video girls turned….cricket…cricket. exactly
thought: Maybe they couldve done Iman, Tyra and Chanel Iman or Jourdan Dunn. Maybe im asking too much since ive never heard of this mag. *shrugs shoulders*
