DJ Khaled Has Confidence in a Nicki/Kim Collabo

DJ Khaled recently sat down with Vibe.com for a quickie interview and got into the discussion of possibly trying to get Nicki Minaj & Lil’ Kim to do a collabo. Apparently, he thinks he’s just the man to do it:

I don’t get into controversy too much. I love Nicki Minaj, I love Lil Kim. I don’t think they sound like each other. They’re both great MCs, I would love to see them do a record together. I want to see if I can make that happen, if on my next album I can make Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj do a record together, featuring DJ Khaled. That might be the biggest record in the game.

Hey, I made Beanie Sigel and Jadakiss do a record together on my first album. I do these things. Records like that, to bring people together, people respect it ’cause they know I represent that love. I’ma reach out to Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim and try to pull that record together for y’all.

What say you, guys and gals? Is it possible?

Anything's possible. But to make that happen, Khaled would have to get to the root of Kim's problem, which is Diddy. And I just don't see him burning bridges with a man like Diddy right now, especially with Dirty Money on their last train to nowhere.

And Khaled is gonna do this for us? Like we asked him for any favors. I'd rather hear more diss records go back and forth first. #judgenot

  2. TESHA with an E Says:

i guess everyone wants shine by talkin about these two. if they dont like each other why force them on a track?? and god forbid they make a video. shit they both gonna be wearing the same wig and outfit..

and i dont know why he's acting like he can do it. we wont be able to hear them rap anyway all we gonna hear is "we the BEEEESST" and all that shit he likes to yell in the background

  3. dodgerfan Says:

hey Hov & Nas came 2gether & dey shit was way more personal den dis (da baby mama thing).but i don't see him bein da 1 2 pull it off.he ain't got no power in da industry like dat.

  4. ... Says:

sweet baby jesus i am so sick of nicki and kim. let's move on.

  5. new orleans Says:

"And Khaled is gonna do this for us? Like we asked him for any favors."

    …my thougts exactly.

  6. Guest Says:

you ain't never lied about that "we the BEEEESST" ish!!!!!

  7. @BroadwaysStar Says:

umm…all I can say is… HOE HAVE A SEAT! Who in the French Toast asked you to bring them together? Aren't Nicki and Kim grown ass women? Are they both saying they want to end the beef? Are the doing interviews acting like they don't what the other's problem is and they are seeking for world peace? Now when these two grown ass people decided to sit down and hash there shit then they may be happy to have a record. Hell, they might even call you. Until then, shut the fuck up, sit the fuck down and be easy!

Trick question: Does he even rap? Because I'm trying to figure out the last time I heard a dude with the prefix of DJ on their stage name actually spit a verse or two on their own damn album. I'm just saying…

  8. jaye Says:

um, why would i want to hear kim on anything its 2010 not 96. *kanye shurg*

Kinda surprised but kinda not surprised by some of these reactions. I don't havea prob with "We Da Beeeeest" trying to get the two of them to collaborate. Maybe for him he's not interested in seeing two females go at each other. No one asked him to interfere but if he feels like he has a good relationship with both chicks and would like to get them to collaborate I don't see the harm in that. They're both adults but sometimes a third party who isn't directly feeding into the bullshit is needed to bring people together. Whether he has the ability to influence them is the real question.

I guess yall just want to see the drama. Controversy will give folks a lot to talk about and get everybody buzzing. If thats the motive for not wanting them to squash their "beef" then I can't be mad. To each their own. Beef fuels interest in many cases and would give bloggers and commenters stuff to talk about. Personally, I'd rather see them come together and make good music. I really don't like seein brothas and sistas squabblin over petty shit when there is a potential to do some big things united.

  10. @80sBetch Says:

#sigh I'm so tried of him. And if they did a song together AGAIN. I wouldn't be surprised.

As I think about this a little more, I guess the visceral reaction to this is the source and not the message. The message itself is valid in my opinion. Its the fact that DJ Khaled ain't really respected like that(atleast to folks like us). If it were somebody else like maybe a Lauryn Hill or MJB or Queen Latifah the response might have been different. I highly doubt that they would get the "hoe shut up" response because we actually have respect for them.

If I take Khaled at his word then he may have a shot at brokering this collabo. Jada and Beans were at each other and had the streets buzzin when they were beefing a few years ago.If he got them together then its possible. He's a producer and if he can sell them on the idea that the two of them could make a bomb ass track together who knows whether or not they'll do it. Say what you will but Khaled has been associated with some real bangers. Maybe he could sell them on that?? *shrugs*

for the record I have NEVER liked Kim, something about a middle-age whore makes my skin crawl

  13. Ummm Okkk Says:

Totally off topic….But looking at that picture of Nicki, i just realized….She had a nose job? Must be recent….

  14. Trinisweetness Says:

DJ K let's get it together boo, Lil Kim had her time, let Nicki have her moment in the spotlight geez, if you are truly looking to represent love and bringing people together and what not, there are many worth while causes out there for you to flex your humanitarian muscles. Son if your idea of peace is bringing Nicki and Kim together homeboy you have issues.

Plus you don't give a shit about either of them, you just want the glory of saying YOU DID IT!!

  15. WellDamn24 Says:

Frankly it wouldn't benefit Lil Kim to do anything with NM. It would just make her "has been" status stand out even more.

The only thing that Lil Kim could do other than living her d@mn life is to come out with the craziest, nastiest, deepest d@mn album and blow all the other wannabee sex-rappers off street corner.

If she could get Talib Kweli and Common to write some deep @ss freaky deaky "I need a dictionary to understand how that sexual position works" type stuff, she would be a legend.

  16. bknyc Says:

Whose to say that Khaled doesn't do anything humanitarian. A lot of folks do stuff and never let the public know about it. I'm NOT a Khaled fan by any stretch but sometimes you gotta take a statement at face value. As I said before, maybe Khaled isn't the guy who should have made this kind of response because he's too much of a heat generating figure.

Khaled was being interviewed about this and gave his response. I don't think he views this as him being Gandhi or anything. I don't think its a case of him trying to thump his chest and proclaim his greatness. He's in the music biz as a DJ, producer. He likes both artists and wants to spread love by bringing them together. Not sure why that should bring about the kind of repsonses in this thread. I guess the public gets jaded and cynical because far too many celebs make us this way.

YOU ARE SO TRUE TO YOUR WORD. i BELIEVE THAT IT IS THE LAST DAYS LORD HELP US ALL. LOVE B4 HATE IS ALWAYS THE END…………………:)))))))))

  18. mialove Says:

I don't know if I would want to hear a track with both of them together, khaled is right they both are different when it comes to being an MC. Kim's style is different & Nicki well her's is different in her own little world, most would say it's a gimmick others would say it's talent. hmmm anyways if they do a track together I damn sure don't want to hear them on a track together with khaled, don't nobody wanna hear we the best throughout the whole damn song, so I'll pass.

  19. bknyc Says:

It all depends. If the production is on point people will eat it up like they ate up other Khaled joints. I'm not a fan of that "we da besst" shit throughout a song but I will not front..some of the songs he puts forth are real bangers thanks to the great production on the track. I could see the same for a NM Kim collabo.

  20. kita Says:

hahahha I never cared for her much either LOL!!!!!

    -Exactly
