DIYD Theory

Damn’ed if you do…

Both Necole Bitchie & The YBF posted a story about Amber Rose and her conversations with Russell Simmons regarding rumors and the potential for ruin that those rumors have, thus hindering future opportunities. Now, if you check out both ladies’ sites, you’ll see that they both differ in tone. Go ahead and read them both and then read what I have to say.

We are all granted free will. We live in a society where we are able to make potentially life changing decisions without serious consequence (granted that it’s LEGAL). There are many who have lived an absolutely ‘good’ life with minimal drawbacks while there are others of us (and I believe that the “us” is in the majority) who have made decisions that we’re not happy with. Speaking strictly from the standpoint of working in the adult industry, I will say that our society has become groomed to beat women down to the ground if they make the decision to objectify themselves. From video vixens, to dancers, to adult film actresses, women take the bulk of the heat associated with these industries. Let me preface what I’m about to say with the following…Yes, I KNOW that when you make certain decisions, there are certain repercussions and NO, I am NOT saying that those who do ‘choose’ should be exempt from them. But it absolutely kills me how, if you’re in, you suck…and if you’re not, people are so busy harping on what was that they refuse to pay attention to what is. I respect that everyone has an opinion but it saddens me that people are ready to throw Amber to the wolves just because she made a decision that “you” wouldn’t. If anything, women *clears throat* should applaud the fact that she wants different. This is not to say that you have to sac ride but you (and this is a very general ‘you’…not at all specific) don’t have to criticize a person when the effort is there.

I know that there are many women out there who hold true contempt for those who choose the ‘dark’ lifestyle and there are even more who are indifferent about the whole issue. However, I also happen to know that many of the women who try extra hard to be extra venomous usually have another reason for it all….

Those who can, do….and those who can’t…simply talk sh*t about the ones that will….

Sighs. I will never forget a conversation I had with a friend about ex Carolina Panther Rae Carruth. I’m sure many remember that he had a hit put out on his then pregnant girlfriend, Cherica Adams.

It was absolutely baffling and horrifying to me that any man could have thought to have his pregnant girlfriend murdered in cold blood. It disgusts me now as much as it did when it first happened.

I remember clear as day sharing this with my friend, and I also remember very clearly what came out of her mouth next:’Well, wasn’t ’she’ (Cherica Adams) a stripper anyway?

All I could do was shake my head in both amazement and utter disappointment that my friend would say something so ignorant and downright cruel..as if, because this girl was a stripper, she deserved to be murdered? Cherica was someone’s daughter, mother, friend, etc. That one statement changed how I looked at said friend unfortunately.

Speaking personally, I have friends from all walks of life and I don’t judge nary a one, simply because I don’t have it in me to judge another person. If you are good people, then that’s all that matters to me. End of story.

I’ll never understand what makes a woman (or man, for that matter) judge women who choose to live their lives the way they see fit *shrugs*. The first word that does come to mind, however is: BITCHASSNESS.

Amber, do you boo. For those that don’t like it? Bitch, boo, bye, with a smile!

This subject gets under my skin so bad and sometimes when I’m on blogs or other social networking sites I have to walk away b/c I get way too pissed off. It’s so sad that people will discount your life and your worth b/c of the career path or life you have chosen. I’ve never been perfect and I imagine most people haven’t either so who are we to judge someone by what they do. I’ve always been team Amber Rose because I feel like she got a bad rap right off top. People assasinated her b/c she used to be a stripper and assumed she was one way only b/c she worked in this profession. I am a firm believer that everyone deserves respect no matter what industry they work in or how they live their lives.
