My Celebrity Family

I think that everyone has at least one family member that is always the life of the party, the ‘dramatic’ relative, the one who can’t quite keep it together, or the best cook! My family is, without question, not oblivious to any of this. In spite of all the things that make us ‘different,’ you can’t help but love each one just the same.

My grandmother is the stand out, and with the holidays quickly approaching, I had to start this post off with her. My grandmother is currently in a nursing home, but during the holidays, one of us will go pick her up so that she can have dinner with us. As SOON as she gets there, she hugs and kisses everybody, gets her plate, and says “Okay, I’m ready to go.” She’ll engage you for a little while but believe it or not, she loves her ‘home’ and….actually prefers being there than around us. Hmm….

My mother and father are the yin and yang of the family. While my dad was always the disciplinarian, he was also very funny in his own way. He served several years in the military, but even the ‘strict’ behaviors of the corp couldn’t keep him from cracking a joke every now and then. My mother, on the other hand, was more concerned with ‘mothering’ her children. Stern if need be but not that often.

My brother is full of jokes and ALWAYS working overtime to make people laugh, and my sister is the type who says things without any real intention of getting a laugh. It just happens that way.

Although I feel that I’ve taken on bits and pieces of some of the qualities in my family, we’re all quite different with personalities that make us work as a unit. I couldn’t ask for a better family.
