Ne-Yo Talks His Hairline, Gay Rumors, Trey Songz’ ‘Emotional Disconnect,’ & Giving Bey Writing Credit
15 CommentsNe-Yo stopped by Power 105′s, The Breakfast Club, this morning to talk about his new album, RED, those pesky gay rumors that just won’t go away, turning down the Martin Luther King role in order to maintain that sexiness he worked so hard to achieve, and Beyonce taking song writing credit for Irreplaceable.
I didn’t take any offense to that. Here’s my thing, when I write a song for an artist, I want that artist to take that song and make it theirs. If you listen to my version of Irreplaceable and listen to Beyoncé’s version of Irreplaceable, it’s two damn totally different songs with all the harmonies and extra stuff that she put in there. So yea, I gave her writer’s credit because that counts. That’s writing. That harmony that you put right there, that little background part…I didn’t write that originally. You put that in there. So for her to take the song and make it hers, I didn’t mind her saying “I wrote this for my girls at a concert” or whatever the case may be because in a way, technically, in a way she did. She put her spin on it. If you gon’ do it the exact same way I did it, you might as well let me keep it. She added the Beyoncé twist on it.
Additionally, Ne-Yo opens up about his feelings towards Trey Songz and his role in R&B.
I’ve talked to Trey before. Trey is one of those dudes who could be a serious problem in this R&B world IF he decided to just really go and put that emotion in there. No disrespect to Trey, love Trey to death but I feel like, again…the emotional disconnect is there.
Connecting those emotions may be a little too hard to do if you’re always trying to connect your dick to every track. But I digress.
