The gorgeous and never aging actress, Nia Long, (who recently appeared on the cover of Essence with her two sons) doesn’t think that marriage works and says that she’s just fine being a good woman to her man, sans ring.
Marriage is not a priority for me. I’m not saying I’ll never do it; it’s just not where we are as a family. I’ll be at home with my man, having a perfectly loving time, and I’ll see all these comments on some site about how wrong I am for not being married. I don’t feel less loved or loving because I’m not married.
What do you guys think of this stance? I have seen Nia get slammed on other blogs by commenters who said that she’s ‘wrong’ for having a guy’s baby without a ring. Should marriage be considered the ideal situation or goal for everybody? Many people didn’t grow up witnessing long term, healthy marriages, and we all know that Hollywood doesn’t give us that either.
