Last night, I asked my twitter followers what they thought of the phrase If you’re not married, you’re single.
Just days before that, I saw someone on my timeline retweet a comment where a woman said that any man who doesn’t have a ring on his finger is free game for any woman. Even if that ringless man has a girlfriend.
I’ve always said that a taken person (be they married or boyfriend/girlfriend) is just that…taken. There’s no gray area for me. I’m actually quite disgusted by the notion of anyone who believes that a man or woman isn’t required to respect their current ‘situation’ because they’re not legally bound to one another. Why don’t people respect relationships anymore? Is the dating pool that bad to where respect is only optional?
While the majority of my Twitter followers agreed with my stance, there were quite a few (women) who said that they believed that those without a ring were free for the taking.
I wonder if that same mentality is applicable when/if they have a man…?
After the break, check out a few of the responses and post your thoughts!
