♫Rihanna: Russian Roulette (Download HERE)
The moment we’ve all been waiting for. RihannaNow.com gave us the first listen to Rihanna’s highly anticipated 1st single, Russian Roulette, off of her new album, Rated R. The album is set to hit stores on Monday, November 23rd. With it’s first track produced by hit song writer, Ne-Yo, Ri-Ri gives her fans a taste of a new sound that includes MUCH stronger vocals. As of right now, I’m still on the fence on whether or not I love the song. I could’ve gone my whole life without hearing such a morbid gunshot at the end but whatever works. Feel free to post your thoughts!
PS: Isn’t the cover HOT?!?

That was quick!
Its not bad at all… now I need to hear Chris' in full. The "transform ya" video shots looks nice. Her PR team gets points for all this

BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
October 20th, 2009 at 3:44 pm
This dark, morbid, gothic sound needs to go. It's not true to her. Secondly, the whole "the wait is ova" thing was nothing more than overhype.
(waits for everyone to say "booo, you a hater". whatever.)

I could've had a v8

This chick is FIYAH!!!! I love me some Rihanna…I like this song too…which was expected…whoever writes for her is talented…
October 20th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
LOL the whole album concept is just in time for SAW IV's release Friday lol…I do get that vibe from the promo video
October 20th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
She coulda left this in the Studio!
October 20th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
LMAO you kno i didnt even think of that!
October 20th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
LOL LMAO RIGHT! THAT WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY GRR! THANK U!
October 20th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
It's not bad, but it's not Umbrella. Rihanna's whole appeal is based around catchy pop, and this is not it. I REALLY need Rihanna to drop all this edgy crap before it really starts to get old.
Has she even seen a gun in real life?
I want to give her a cookie for the improved vocals but my spidey senses tell me she would never sound like this live
October 20th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
I'm sorry this song isn't good at all and the gunshot…with all this volience going on sorry RiRi but her fans I'm sure will love it and good for them….
October 20th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
Ne-Yo's getting sloppy too. Why does everything have to involve death? Remember "unfaithful" where she sang "everytime he goes out the door, i see him die a lil more inside…i dont wanna be a murderer?"
October 20th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
me likey!
RAWR!
October 20th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
she'll never have another Umbrella.
October 20th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
this song does not do it for me. It doesn't sound like a debut single of an anticipated album, it's more like a 2nd or 3rd single. All that hype and this is all i get? on another note her vocals are much better!!!!
October 20th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Because Umbrella was the ish, I don't think she can EVER top that! I think she's still stuck in a dark place by the sounds of this crap! I understand that she went through somethings, but she needs to have her grandma give her new Voodoo View on life because this crap here is for the Goths!

I'm sitting here trying to figure out just HOW I feel about this song. LOL! I know I feel SOME kinda way…but I can't pinpoint it! Not ready for 2nd listen yet… so I'll sit it back on the shelf until later.
October 20th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
I'm sorry but this is not it for me. *Kanyeshrug* The beat is just blah. The lyrics are nice. Rhi-Rhi sounds better on the song but I don't see it being a hit IMO. I'll wait to hear more from "Rated R."
October 20th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
True, but with all the hype that was going around it sure sounded like it
October 20th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
^ LOL! the worst part is, it's all true damn it
October 20th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Why would she sing a song about "playing" with a gun, knowing she has a very young influential audience.. I know it's just music, but damn, of all the things she could sing about, she chooses to sing about playing a game that makes her heart race(natural hight).. I will pass…
October 20th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
not trying to hat but I honestly don't like the song. It was boring i almost fell asleep in my chicken soup. And her voice -yes she's trying but i agree with most of the comments above. she should stick to catchy pop. NEXT!!!
October 20th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
I actually like it. I have to give her kudos for daring to be different.
October 20th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
I listened to it twice and I still don't know how I feel about it. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting from her, but this wasn't it. I guess with all the drama that has been her and Chris Breezy's lives, it seems that what they were originally known for (their music) seems to be the least entertaining.
October 20th, 2009 at 8:29 pm
why do people like a song that is clearly about a women wanting to kill her self…then a gun shot at the end? I bet the "EMO" people are creaming their panties over this song…sorry but I like music that makes me happy..not music that makes me want to jump off a building. But its going to go number one because people…are just people…

I like it………No scratch that, I LOVE IT!!!!
I think her song is pretty cool, I love it. It's sexy, but not in a boring, typical r&b kind of way. It's edgy, it's grungy & more importantly, it's different, just the way I love it. I don't no about every1 else, but I'm sick of r&b, mainly the r&b of today. It's predictable, typical & boOoring!!!!
The only r&b that still melts my heart til this day is the 90's and back………But this grunge type of music………I hope & pray that it's here 2 stay, & I hope & pray that it never goes away!!!!
PUNK BABY….YEAH!!!!

I actually like the song. Don't know if it should have been a lead single though. she's gonna have to come hard a hell on the next one.

….and mines too
!!!!

I really like this song. It captures emotions, but the morbidness kind of freaks me out. The gunshot at the end…. I wish that wasn't there. I've always been a fan of Rihanna's vocals and I think this song shows that. I would expect some deeper music because this will be her fourth album and she's growing up, as well as the whole Chris Brown thing. iCan't with music that is constantly so shallow (ex. Mya's new stuff), so I digs this.
October 21st, 2009 at 6:28 pm
I love the cover. She's such a bad ass. Woot!!
thanks for the warning w/ that gunshot. it's going in my iPod.
however, i know i'ma jump everytime that gunshot happens.
damn it! i'm setting myself up.

[...] has just released a song from her new album, Rated R, entitled Russian Roulette. The song is really dark and sombre, which is not a bad thing for people like me. Also, check out [...]

Umm…
No.
This isn't doing for me. *Kanyeshrug*
